Using Vegetable oil as a diesel fuel

The web-cam above will show how new equipment is being added to the trailer pilot plant to improve the efficiency of the biodiesel (methyl ester) manufacturing process. The trailer is an ideal place to build the plant, with all the important purification and waste water treatment systems necessary for a high quality product.

Currently the pilot plant is being re-fitted with a small 175 litre batch reactor to find out how to automate the process. A small siemens PLC will monitor the temperature, pH and humidity and send signals to various air operated valves and electric pumps, turning them on or off for particular lengths of time. The vegetable oil is stored in two 1,500 litre tanks on the right hand side, behind the waste vegetable oil reciever, which has a little hand pump mounted on it.
