WTN Request question
My main collection from a local restaurant has received a visit from the EA. First time in 10 years.
The EA has asked then to supply a copy of a WTN. I will be supplying one this week.

I have copied the excel version from the BIO WIKI site for a season ticket.

Q3 Quantity of waste? - If its a season ticket How do I answer this one - leave it blank, put "season ticket" or make up a number i.e. 45 litres per week average?

Second - Can I expect a visit from the EA to check out my records/check my bunding ETC. Do they have powers of entry like the HMRC, I'm a bit worried as My record keeping has been poor the last couple of years and My oil store is kept in an IBC that is not bunded?

Thanks

RE: WTN Request question
Are you saying you haven't issued a WTN in ten years? Normally a season ticket shouldn't cover more than 1 year.
You should have kept a record of the quantity of oil you collected and then when you issue the season ticket, you put in the total you've collected during the season ticket period.
Having said that, who's going to know if you 'estimate'?
You are unlikely to get a visit (unless you post on an open forum .. joke!) but I would at least get a couple of years of records sorted now just in case. It's a lot easier to do it as you go.

RE: WTN Request question
To clarify

The restaurant are asking me to provide a WTN for this year only. So i will date it 01/01/2020 to 31/12/2020 - the question was what quantity to put on this years season ticket?

If after receiving the WTN the EA request the notes for previous years I will have to make those up and then estimate the quantity.

In the early days I used to keep a record of oil collected and bio made, but after many years of never needing either I stopped.

So time to pick it up again and start with records.

You can't issue a season ticket in advance of collecting, it has to be after the collections.

You can either issue one to cover Feb 19 to Feb 20 or issue one from the start of the year until now.

RE: WTN Request question
I used to issue a "one off" for the first collection with just the amount collected on that visit. Also put your phone numbers on it so thet they can easily contact you again if it's going to be an irregular pick up. Tell them that you will keep a record of collections and give them a final season ticket at the end of the year. That way they have your details and can soothe the EA that they are disposing of their waste in accordance with the regulations.

Would not be too concerned about an EA visit, they are generally too busy with other things. Your local council are the ones to worry about if they get to know about your nefarious deeds!

Jaguar S type SE, 2.7 V6 on B50
Volvo 940 2.4 turbo intercooler on bio/veggy blend
VW Crafter lwb, yes it's got the dreaded DPF, on B50
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, not on bio,veg or any other gunge!
Smiley Transit with banana power . Now sold before it totally converts to Fe2O3
Honda CBX 750, alas now sold.
Lister CS 6 will be on veggie soon

RE: WTN Request question
I issue a season ticket to my chap. The total is left blank and filled in on the day the ticket expires. The local environmental health team were happy with this. They just want to make sure that oil is disposed of in a manner they are happy with.

Are you sure about that keef . During my 1st call of this year to all my 15 collections I issued a wtn to cover all this year. All are happy and the ones that have council visits are all satisfied.

if you issued one after you have collected it wouldn't be a season ticket. Can you direct me to any rules and regs to say I can't do this.

Indeed Nige, they don't seem to be that bothered about the quantity as long as they are satisfied the stuff isn't going down the drain and they have details from the transferor where they can confirm this.

Having said that I've never had a visit after issuing hundreds of wtn's over the years.

Location York.
Enhanced Glycerol pre-wash, then 1 more stage (usually)

2x 2.0 HDI's both on B100.

RE: WTN Request question
I do one season ticket that I leave at the pub, and just write on the back the date and quantity collected as I go along. At the end of the 12 month period it's closed off and a new one started.

2004 Passat 130 TDi PD 4Motion B100
2003 Passat 130 TDi PD B100
2002 Peugeot 206 1.4HDi B100 (now 2 off)
2008 Golf 1.9TDi,PD, no DPF, B100

It's just how I understood it when the EA inspected me.
I guess it makes sense that you can issue the ticket in advance but you can't complete it as you don't know the quantity or the end date for sure until either the end of the year or whenever there was a material change.
Presumably, if they changed collector, you moved house, they changed premises or changed owners etc before year end you could just complete the ticket on that day.

To save all the messing, I now email the WTNs as I go as it takes seconds if you use an Excel doc with drop down boxes.
