FPHE connections leaking
Hi all,
I’m having trouble getting a good seal on the oil flow side connections on my FPHE.
It has 1/2 bsp threads so I’ve installed a 1/2 to 1/4 bsp bush with thread tape, that joint seems ok but the 1/4 bsp to 10mm barb fitting keeps leaking from the thread fitting!
I’ve used thread tape again and tried a few times and tightened them quite tight. I’m worried as they are brass they will break!

Suggestions on better sealant?

Thanks.

RE: FPHE connections leaking
can you put up photos of the fittings?

are they not meant to seal on the flat face instead of the threads?

Yeah I think you're right, IIRC using fibre washers

Thanks, sorry I didn’t think to post pics.
The elbow to bush joint is where I think it is leaking.
There is no oil pressure, no coolant leaks even though I did 600km yesterday, 35 to 40 Celsius here yesterday so car was running quite hot!

can you add copper or fibre washers in between the 90' fitting and the reducing bush?

RE: FPHE connections leaking
Thanks, I added a fibre washer then the elbow cracked as I over tightened it to get the angle right!
Tried again with 2 washers and it works fine now, no leak so far!
Car is soon due for a fuel filter change, I’ll tidy things up and remove the pesky elbows I think, just have a little extra hose for the curve so less joints.
