Methanol vapour detector
That\'s useful information, thanks. The idea is to put the detector probe in an area that is not supposed to have explosive levels of methanol vapour ie the safe area. It\'s really to help prove that it is actual safe. If it detects any substantial vapour it would start to sound alarms and then shut down the machine before it reached unsafe levels.

I\'m sitting here drinking a beer and the detector is picking up fumes from the glass and my breath. It\'s pretty sensitive. Nonetheless, it will have a sensitivity adjustment on it.

Latest update on the methanol detector:

It\'s working except for the alarm relays which might need recoding or something, not quite sure yet. Anyway, I\'m really chuffed and could not have done it without jondanbob\'s help so a special thankyou to Jon. Oh, and thanks to JulianF for the name and everybody else for contributing to this thread.

If your unit reads ethanol at close quarters how will it be able to tell the difference between that and methanol?
