Yeah I know any diesel, bio, etc etc. Just wondered if any specific issues had been had with the 2.0 DTI by anyone on here. I have also had 35 years in the trade and am not a fan of Vauxhalls really but never had any nightmare ones in the garage I ran.

The other half wants a people carrier and I already have an early Sharan, want a later motor for her but don\'t want a Pd engined Sharan or variant.

Any other peep carriers can be recommended then ?

If you drop the year requirement,

I suggest a Mark III Renault Espace.

Sturdy veg tolerant engine/Bosch ijnection pump combination

plastic body shells, as manufactured by Matra Aerospace
on a fully galvanised chassis.

RXE (or above) has seats fitted to virtually infinitely adjustable rails
rather than fixed points.

The Grand Espace adds 20 cms of length for hardly any extra weight,
to give more luggage room when 7 up.

Mine gets lots of use as a (roofed) two-seater pickup,
or
7-seater kid shifter for sons friends.

The 2.2DTi is the favoured engine
the early 2.2DCi is a dog.

The MarkIV Espace was brought in-house by Renault,
metal body panels and needed extra horsepower
to make it move.

Hmmm not much around, DCI/DTI, struggling to find which and when. you say early DCI are dogs... does that mean later ones are not ! if so when is later ?

Citroen Xsara Picasa anyone ? 2.0 HDI... or the 1.6HDI... lots of options out there for her it seems, although she does really want an auto. Laugh

Its the \'97 - \'02 body shell you need:

http://www.matrasport.dk/Cars/Espace/history.html

with the G8T engine 2.2L DTi 714 or 716,
(actually 2188cc and 113/115BHp),
this is an \'old fashioned\' indirect injection diesel engine
hence the suitability/robustness for uvo/svo.

Shortly after this MarkIII espace was launched
Renault released the in-house Megane Scenic
which was profitable at a much lower price to the consumer,

and the Espace price drifted upwards,
reducing the numbers sold compared to the MarkII.

(To the extent their is no Haynes Book of Half-Truths for the MkIII).

The G8T engine is listed by Renault as \'the\' diesel engine from
late \'97 until late \'00, (when it was replaced by the problematic 2.2DCi),
but,
I suspect some (seemingly overpriced) Espaces littering forecourts were registered later than these (probable) production timelines.

(I very much doubt my Espace was actually bought on Xmas Eve \'97,
but,
presume its registration allowed an otherwise undeserved
sales bonus for someone).

Theres one on Autotrader at the moment,
\'X\' /2000 for 2k within 60 miles of us.
