Another GL build + results

Morning all, just thought i'd show you my attempt at the GL (MK I) processor...it's a bit heath robinson compared to some i'v seen but seems to do the same job. So here it is in photos:

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd260/pjbennett1976/Bio%201/DSCN1759.jpg
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd260/pjbennett1976/Bio%201/DSCN1760.jpg
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd260/pjbennett1976/Bio%201/DSCN1761.jpg
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd260/pjbennett1976/Bio%201/DSCN1762.jpg
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd260/pjbennett1976/Bio%201/DSCN1764.jpg

It still needs a bit of work, i.e. lagging the top but for the first run we just used a bit of old carpet over the top to keep a bit of the heat in. The biggest problem we had was the thermometer which seemed to stick above 60 ish which is really not useful.

Anyhow, this is the result:

Unfortunately had a bit of fallout on 27/3 test. I actually wanted opinions on this becuase it seems a lot to me. I did not get a picture of the glycerol/bio separation as camera battery died at that point and had to go for a recharge. Used KOH and titrated at 1.75...seemingly unusually low compared to other results i've read, but oil looked brand new apart from a bit of crap at bottom of barrels which did not go into making this batch. Oh, and about half an hour into de-mething the pump decided to give in the ghost but recovered about 2.5 litres...so called it a day and is now gravity settling. Pump was clarke central heating pump, gonna get the TAM 105 next i think as it looks a bit more robust, or even one of the self priming model aove this (and i thought this was intended as a money saving activity....seems i've spent a small fortune so far.

Looks like its coming on fine. Looks like quite a lot of drop out if all that oil came from the small sample.

Had many questions from the neighbors ?

You might have problems with the garden hose. I used that for veg and it ate right through it. :o

Thinking of reprocessing using a smaller proportionate amount of methoxide. It does seem a lot doesn't it.

Neighbours think we are mad, chap from next door had his head out of the upstairs window last night asking us how it was going....with a continous smile on his face.

Garden hose is temporary, will get something more robust shortly, and something clear may be useful. Would be nice to see what is happening.

Update on the pump, just found a customer returned CPE100 self priming pump at machine mart for £52 (new at £82). Had another on the shelf if anyone interested. They seem to have loads of customer return pumps at my local machine mart for some reason every time i go in. There was a tam 105 the other week, for £21 i think it was. All with 3 months garauntee.

ditch the koh and deal with NAOH.....lot simpler, and cheaper..... the stat on the heater can be restructured to go higher, as per GL docs, or you can simply overide it and switch off the heater at the desired temperature. You seem to be on track so far.

We are really a family of midgets.

Any suggestions on reprocessing quantities, i was guesstimating 10 litres + 700 grams KOH (per 100 litre). Or is there a way of re-titrating that i don't know about.

Processor is made from 160 litre hot water tank btw.
