Hello & Welcome Steve.

Nice looking reactor. Good luck.

One thing to me mindful of is Kebab shop oil will probably have a higher animal fat content. This will raise the solidifying temperature, so be careful using it in cold weather.

Looks good, but take it steady on the first run and make sure you avoid the methanol fumes. :D
If this is your first attempt at bio make sure you titrate well and more than once to ensure the correct amount of lye.

Mitsubish Delica (shogun engine) 95k miles now on 100% bio 20000 miles and counting. Acetone at 1000 miles. Now stopped acetone as it did not seem to make any difference.

Kebab oil is all that I can get hold of here for free! Everyone else gets paid for theirs.

Methanol fumes are also a concern to me, I will probably buy some couplings from oilybits so the carboys can be easily disconnected safely.

The three red things are illuminated buttons, first one - on(main pump)/off, second - distill pump, third - heater.

cheers

Hi Stevee,

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see a home processor made well, definately the way to go.

What size batches will it make and what size pump has it got?

Good luck with your biodiesel making.

Bev :)

The switches are 6A rated so they cope well with the pumps, the heater is controlled via a 15A relay. All from Maplins, and I'm post a diagram eventually!

200 litre cylinder with 28mm compression fittings and not the usual 1inch type. Took me a few days to work that one out!

I'm hoping to make 125 lire batches.

Hello Stevee

I see your green pumps, are they the same as these?

http://www.toolstation.com/index.html?code=84937

the top ones,

it states 10 bar which is 145PSI, do these things have some serious kick because the tam105 has 50PSI

thats the operating pressure that it can stand, or comfortably work in, as in a sealed pressurised heating system.....nothing to do with the power of the pump or the litres per minute etc. the tam 105 is a water pump, and the dab one shown is a circulation pump.
