no problem with linking the batteries in parellel, as many motorhomes do, but yes, they will inter-react, but that only means they will charge
together, and flatten together, so no problem. if you want to charge them both but only flatten one, with the other in reserve, then you need a split
charger, and get one from ebay or any auto supplier, or quality caravan centre.

If they are of similar size and quality then in parallel is fine.

something like this should do it. You could probably find them cheaper but JK are pretty good.
Hope this helps.

both batteries are the same and would be both charged from the alternator , and discharged together to run the lights,tv,waterpump.

i run two batteries in my Land rover but i use a split charge system, this means that my auxillary battery powers the winch and laptop/GPS, but if
this battery goes flat, the main battery is unaffected,so i can still start the vehicle ,also the auxillary wont get charge to it until the starting
battery is fully charged up,i bought a kit off eBlag ,wired it up myself and its a simple "fit and forget" system

Go for a split charge. Only takes one moment of leaving something 'on' overnight and your stuck without power to start in early morning light.
Happenned to me. I tell you Kielder is a bloody bleak place if your looking for a jump start at 6;30. A.M.

the engine start has a separate battery ( the van has a device called a batterymate which will charge the van battery from the leisure battery), i
have 2 unused 55 amp batteries i would like to fit for the lights ,tv, waterpump they will be charged by the split charge of the camper and the
charger from the mains hook up, i had 1 70amp battery but it would not last a weekend without a recharge so i want to link 2 55amp together.
