The Venturi Adventure!
The Venturi Adventure.
Hi everybody. I thought I’d post this up now so as to get the interest generated to get a social day up and running. This Forum has a real community
spirit about it with everybody helping each other out when problems or issues arise but I feel we need more events or days where we actually see each
other for real..
In the past there have been numerous events held in Chugs field and another at Bevs place in Yorkshire. It’s at these gatherings that we finally put
faces to names and, for that matter, real names to forum handles. What I propose is an organised day out where we can all have a bit of fun driving
around in our Bio/WVO/SVO powered vehicles.
A mate of mine at work has been on various “Treasure Hunts” with the “Brit Ball Run” team and this year organised his own event for another forum. It
is this same event, or run, that we will do.
The event is a treasure hunt, not a race. The object is to cover the least amount of miles between the start and finish points while, at the same
time, collecting items from a “shopping list” Miles covered and shopping list items all carry points and the winner will be the team with the least
amount of points.
I propose that there be an entrance fee for each team and the money generated from this will cover any admin charges I incur and also prizes for the
winners and losers.
The event could also be themed with prizes for the best costumes. The event will be open to anybody on the forum including families.
Any money left over from the event could be donated to charity and maybe some could be channelled to Paddygoat himself towards forum running costs.
I reckon that April 2010 will be a good time, when hopefully the weather will be a bit better and also the clocks will have changed again, affording
us more light. The success of this inaugural event will determine whether we do any more. Further events will be held in different parts of the UK.
So…who’s up for a bit of FUN that will not eat into your bank balance!
BTW, The Venturi Adventure is just a WIP title.
Let me know.

Thanks so far for all the positive responses. It is all very encouraging.
The event, as previously stated, will start at RAF Cosford and will cover approximately 120miles. However, the start and finish points are not the
same. That's all I can say at the moment. The beauty of this day out is that it will cost us nothing in fuel.

I know that there is a small cost involved in bio production but generally I see my bio as free fuel, especially when passing service stations.
9ppl is pretty good though.
Thanks for showing an interest Steve...maybe you can get a Moderator team together!

Sounds a good idea Nige - think it may need a night or two away for me as must be a good 250 miles each way, plus the 120mile hunt.
I like the idea suggested earlier of the relay too - with biotim down in Falmouth and me up on the cornwall / devon border I think you would have two
volunteers down this way - he could start at lands end, pass to me, I could go to someone in somerset/dorset etc and so on up to one of our scottish
friends near johnogroats.

OK guys...here it is.
The Venturi Adventure will take place on Saturday 24th of April.
The charge for this event will be £10 per car.
Included in the entrance fee is the parking charge at RAF Cosford. Entry to the museum, where you will find the clue to where you are going next and
one piece of information for your shopping list, is FREE!
Can all those who have already expressed and those wishing to express an interest contact me by U2U for payment details.
No profit will be made by me for organising this event. All excess funds will be donated to charity or the forum or both.
By the way....I completed to run in 115.4 miles. Something to aim for there!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
The success of this is down to you guys now.
